A Florida couple’s dream vacation quickly turned into a nightmare when they were arrested for allegedly assaulting airport employees at Miami International Airport. Rafael Seirafe-Novaes, 40, and Beatriz Rapoport De Campos Maia, 29, were taken into custody on March 2 after attempting to board a flight to Cancún despite arriving late.
The Disruptive Incident
The couple’s trouble began when they missed their American Airlines flight to Cancún. When airport staff denied them boarding, the couple tried to force their way onto the plane. Video footage shows them ignoring no trespassing signs and verbal warnings from the ticket agent. They continued toward the restricted jet bridge area, where Seirafe-Novaes allegedly pushed two victims, and Maia threw coffee at the staff, according to the arrest report.
Quick Response from Law Enforcement
The altercation escalated quickly, and law enforcement arrived to handle the situation. Seirafe-Novaes was eventually escorted off the premises in handcuffs. The couple’s actions throwing coffee caused a delay in the flight, but it eventually arrived in Cancún nearly half an hour behind schedule.
American Airlines Responds
American Airlines confirmed the incident, emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy for violence. A spokesperson stated that the airline is cooperating fully with the police investigation.
